Experienced co-leader to run the autonomous ship ecosystem

Mrs. Päivi Haikkola M.Sc. (Nav.arch., Econ.) started as the Ecosystem Lead for the autonomous ships at the beginning of the 2017. Before this, she worked at Deltamarin as the Head of Research & Development and was a member of the board of Deltamarin Poland. She is an expert in development of strategies as well as customer relations especially in the maritime industry.

The objective of the autonomous ships ecosystem is to create the world’s first autonomous marine transport system. There are almost 80 companies in the ecosystem through Finnish Marine Industries Association. The largest investors are Cargotec, Ericsson, Meyer Turku, Rolls-Royce, Tieto, and Wärtsilä. Half of the ecosystem’s funding comes from Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation. The ecosystem is led by DIMECC, and Mrs. Haikkola with her colleague Dr. Jaakko Talvitie, Innovation Scout, form the leadership team of the ecosystem.
